Switzerland: Attraction
Summer holidays in Switzerland have many faces and facets: Hiking and trekking on mountains and in valleys, refreshing trips on one of the many tranquil lakes, action, thrills and new discoveries.
Zermatt
Grab your honey and your map. Their hospitable people are inviting winter vacationers to experience both the world-famous resorts as well as the smaller villages that have hitherto primarily been the destinations of their own skiers.
Switzerland is a classical land for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and Zermatt is one of the country's most famous resorts, where all these activities can be enjoyed against the backdrop of fantastic scenery. It is therefore not surprising that Zermatt is one of the "Best of the Alps" resorts, Matterhorn, probably the most photographed mountain in the world. The latest trends such as carving, freeriding and halfpiping are de rigeur here. And there are sizzling snow parties where you will rub shoulders with locals and visitors from around the globe. All of the Alps' highest peaks can be seen from the village or from the viewpoints which are reached by a wonderful system of mountain railroads and cable cars.
Lausanne:
Switzerland's Olympic City./ Olympic doest not means Athens only, however the headquareter of Olympic is here at Switzerland. There are about 300 active sports club out there in Lausanne.
This is the place where active honeymooner and romantic travelers will get plenty of satisfaction while adding sports to their life time journey.
This is the world's only facility that's dedicated to the history of museaum. The ground floor presents a history of the Olympics while the first floor looks at the games themselves with plenty of hands-on exhibits with items like the shoes of a bobsled runner. Many couples head to Le Chalet-a-Gobet, the highest point in the municipality, for some cross country skiing. A few minutes from Lausanne, Les Diablerets glacier offers more serious winter action.
The Jungfrau region
Switzerland's ski resorts take advantage of some of the planet's most stunning mountain scenery. Glaciers top mountains rising from pastoral valley floors, and tiny hillside hamlets retain their traditional charm.
Unlike party-hearty Austria, Switzerland draws skiers in search of relaxation. Villages sport more lounge chairs than bar stools, and two-hour luncheons-rather than cafeteria-style snacks-are clearly the norm.
Lying south of Interlaken, offers the most spectacular scenery in Switzerland. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the three towering mountains - Jungfrau (4158m), Monch (4099m) and Eiger (3970m). Their white peaks contrast beautifully with the greens, golds and browns of the valleys and meadows in between. Breathe the fresh mountain air and lose yourself in this magical Alpine wonderland.
St. Moritz
One of the world's most famous playgrounds of the wealthy, St. Moritz has been a winter resort for more than a century. Chic and glamorous, it offers the best cross-country skiing in the Alps as well as diverse downhill skiing and a large variety of summer and winter sports. Enjoy a health treatment in the Health Spa Centre in St. Moritz Bad or indulge in some caviar and truffles at some of the resort's ultra chic restaurants.
Mt Pilatus
The hulking outline of Mount Pilatus lords it over the lakeside city of Lucerne and is one of Switzerland's most thrilling attractions. Take a cable-car to the top of this 2120 metre high granite mountain and enjoy one of the most awe-inspiring vistas imaginable. The views from the summit extend over the whole range of the Swiss Alps, as far south as Italy and north to the great Bavarian plain. Walk the numerous trails, enjoying spectacular scenery as you go. Descend the other side of the mountain by cog-railway - the steepest such track in the world!
